CANDY BUTLER, BIO/STATEMENT
While traveling the continent as a buyer for a major department store chain, I visited Manufacturing plants, Cottage industries, and out of the way artists, whom I felt, would enhance my departments gift assortment. After early retirement, the inspirations from my travels turned my hobby into a growing art business. Found and recycled objects as well as organic materials have helped me with creative choices in texture, form, color, and medium. Often common items are used to inspire uncommon pieces of art. My hand built folk art hopefully expresses the inherent personality of each found object making them unique, colorful, and inspirational. Each item is handmade and one-of-a-kind. I am presently showing in several galleries in California, Washington, Idaho, Texas, Maryland, and Arizona. When I have time, I teach clay and glass fusing classes in my studio in Valley Center California.
My work includes: Dichroic glass, High fire clay, Fused glass, Low fire clay, Ceramist, Welding, Mosaics, Wood, Assemblage and Metal.
