DARLENE KRAFT, BIO/STATEMENT
Born in San Francisco, Darlene was raised in Redwood City, CA. She moved to San Diego in 1971 where she met her future husband in 1973. They have been married 36 years, have three children and eight grandchildren. Encouraged by her peers, Darlene's skills inevitably matured so that by the 1980's she wholehartedly began to pursue her dreams of becoming a professional artisit. She parlayed a professional calligraphy and photography business...utilzing her state-of-the-art dark room...into a highly repected photo portraiture company, winning many awards over the years.
Her introduction to watercolor painting in 1997 with the internationally renowned artist Joe Garcia, inspired her to pursue this medium of artistic expression. With Garcia as her mentor, Darlene developed a keen eye for detail and exquisite composition, traits which she had highly developled as a photographer. She has also studied with Pamela Benson (Temecula, CA), Deb Groesser (Lake Almanor, CA) and noted watercolorist Donal Jolley (Rim Forest, CA).
Darlene is a member of the Watercolor West National Watercolor Society, Fallbrook Art Association, Gem of the Valley Art Association, Temecula Valley Art League. She is on the Board of Directors at the Mountain Arts Network Gallery (Lake Arrowhead Village, CA), Lake Arrowhead Art & Wine Festival and the Lake Arrrowhead Public Library. In 2009, she received First Place and The Peoples Choice Awards for her waterwheel painiting at the Temecula Valley Art League.
Group or individual classes are designed for beginners to advanced students. Class size is limited.
