Chris Mass is a California native with a love of nature and natural surroundings. |
Chris started her passion for wood carving in 1980 when she carved her first decorative duck decoy. This first piece won 2nd place in the Novice division. |
Since then Chris has carved hummingbirds, chickadees and partridges through commission work. |
In 1998 Chris began carving wooden feathers. Her feathers are each hand carved and then mounted on a recycled paper and displayed in a simple shadow box. The feathers are so life like that many find is difficult to believe they are wooden. |
All of the artwork that Chris does captures the essence of the animal she is working on. From ducks to detailed gourds she brings about the utmost in detail. |
