Chris Mass
Chris Mass is a California native with a love of nature and natural surroundings.
Chris started her passion for wood carving in 1980 when she carved her first decorative duck decoy. This first piece won 2nd place in the Novice division.
Since then Chris has carved hummingbirds, chickadees and partridges through commission work.
In 1998 Chris began carving wooden feathers. Her feathers are each hand carved and then mounted on a recycled paper and displayed in a simple shadow box. The feathers are so life like that many find is difficult to believe they are wooden.
All of the artwork that Chris does captures the essence of the animal she is working on. From ducks to detailed gourds she brings about the utmost in detail.
