John Hummel
John Hummel
When John Hummel was 7 years old, he asked for a camera for Christmas, which was the beginning of a life-long fascination with the beauty of the world as seen through the lens of his camera. Most of his life he has worked with a medium format camera and black and white film, always loving the inter-play of light and shadow. With the advent of digital photography he added color images to his repertoire, adding the richness of color variations that nature has to offer.

Most of his life he was self educated in photography but in the late 1980s he participated in a two year photography program at Orange Coast College, where he added greatly to his appreciation of his medium. Every time he looks through his viewfinder he discovers something new about his art and the world around him. His work has won a number of photo completions and he has had his work hung in a few galleries including the Waterfront Gallery in Lake Arrowhead. He has been published in several local calendars and has had a number of his images used in Homes and Land magazine.

He says that his greatest joy has been the opportunity to share what is right and beautiful with the world with others through his images. He can be contacted at his studio at (909) 867-2041.
